Brave Rewards verification token

Has anyone here set up a Brave Rewards Creators account? I've been trying to add the verification token to my site without success. I'm stumped. The instructions are to download the token file, brave-rewards-verification.txt, then add it to a folder called .well-known. Create the folder if it doesn't exist. I'm a newbie to this. Weebly customer service instructed me to edit the theme to add the folder and upload the file to that, which I did without issue, but when I try to finish the verification process I get an error message saying the token couldn't be found in my "public file." Any ideas?

I'm not familiar with this at all, but did you publish after adding in your changes/

Yes, I did. The only place I found where I could create the folder and upload the text file was under Assets in the theme editor menu. Apparently, that isn't where it needs to be. The sign up URL is:

https://publishers.basicattentiontoken.org/

Perhaps you can look at the instructions there, and tell me what I'm doing wrong. This would be quite an asset for Weebly page owners, so I hope there's a way to make it work. Thanks very much for your help.

OK, I figured it out. For anyone else having this issue, the website token method won't work. You have to use the DNS method. Go to Domains, then edit the DNS record, adding a new record. Choose TXT in the TYPE field, enter @ in the TO field, and copy the text token that will be generated during the verification process into the POINTS TO field.

I'm at my weebly Domain page - but there's only two options: Register or Transfer a Domain. So how do you "edit DNS record" from that page?

What is the domain name you are trying to edit? It sounds like you may be logged into the wrong account perhaps.

Free accounts don't have registered domains. So those are the only 2 options that appear on the Domains page for Free users. Is there a way to create the dot well-known folder in the assets area? It has to have the dot in front of the folder name. I can't afford to buy a domain right now. I still have a small readership that I'd like to have Brave browser's Creator Program help me with.

If anyone can lead me to an answer that will achieve this (adding the .well-known folder to assets), I would be so appreciative.
