Anybody else having major problems inserting cursor into text box

I'm trying to set up a NEW website and am being driven crackers due to being unable to insert the cursor where I want to

The text box black bar menu just keeps jumping instead!

Anybody else got the same problem?

Everything works fine on my other Weebly websites - just the new one which is dire beyond belief as it's impossible to edit any of the sample drop-in layouts

Which site is your new site, @makingamark? That's strange that only the new site is doing that for you - it could be the theme you chose, although I'm not sure that would matter unless your other sites are using older themes.

It does look like you're using an older operating system an browser version; those would work okay with older themes but it's possible that it might do some funny stuff with a newer theme. It'd be a good idea in general to run the newest Apple operating system you can (Sierra is the newest and is free in the App Store).

I worked out what the problem is - after being told repeatedly it was all my fault/my iMac's fault.

I switched themes. The cursor problem went away.

The theme (Clean Lines) causing a problem works fine with my other two websites (set up two years ago - with a responsive theme which is still part of the current menu of current themes)

However when I tried to use it for my new site, I couldn't place the cursor easily anywhere in the text box. I was on the point of deserting to Squarespace when I decided to try and changes themes - and that seems to have resolved the problem.

The issue Weebly needs to pay some serious consideration to is that people don't always update their operating systems straight away. I'm one of the group of people who like to see new systems bed down and get all the glitches sorted BEFORE I update to them...

Themes need to work retrospectively too...........

Hey there! It's good to hear the lead on the theme bore fruit. Backward compatibility is always a plus, though sometimes things change dratically enough to force a break in that. Just as a follow-up to make sure we have an accurate picture, were you using the older version of Clean Lines? There have been a few updates to the theme through the years, which you'd have been able to activate through the Theme menu.

My two other websites were created two years ago. We're not talking old - and like I said both are responsive sites and on them the "Clean Lines" Theme works

On the new website, the Clean Lines theme was probably the most frustrating experience I've EVER had with a website.

Somebody at Weebly messed up on coding.........

While I couldn't replicate it myself, I'm sure that it is a combination of that particular theme and the version of the browser on your computer. I still strongly recommend upgrading to the newest OS you can run, though. Apple doesn't maintain them after a certain point and you'll probably have more trouble as time goes on.

Yes.  when I click in the text box, the cursor either doesn't show at all or jumps up to the top of the text box.  If the top of the text box is not visible on the screen, you can't see where the cursor has landed.  If I had a dollar for every time I started typing, only to find the typing going in at the top of the box, requiring me to delete that text and click repeatedly in the text box to get the cursor where I want it to go.  When this happens, sometimes the text formatting box behaves erratically, such as jumping to a part of the text box that is offscreen, meaning the text formatting box effectively disappears.

Were I not obligated to use this software, this annoying glitch alone would have caused me to abandon Weebly by now.
