A secondary product as an add-on option to a primary product

I have a product that could use another product as an optional 'add-on' feature, and I would like to be able to make a secondary product the optional 'add-on' sale under a primary product.

Example: I make a model wheel. I also make a decal accessory that could be used on the wheel.

Today, if I make a selectable option of "with" and "without" for the decal, under the wheel product, it would force me to create a new SKU number in my company's internal system for 'wheel with decal' as a new assembly. And, I can not control price in the paired situation, as I would like a customer to buy the decal for $1 with a wheel purchase, and $2 for the decal if bought just alone.

Under the primary product, I would like the feature of creating an optional purchase of a secondary product.

So, per my example. The customer can buy the wheel product, and during selction, can add the decal by seleting the "with" option, and get the decal for a special price of $1. When I get the order in, I will see 2 line items of the wheel p/n and the decal p/n at the prices given. That way, our company simply pulls the 2 items as if they were bought separately. no need to make a new p/n for an assembly of both, and no need to keep assemblies in inventory.

I hope that makes sense. It makes the sale of a complimenting product easier, and allows for a price discounting for the customer to buy a product with an accessory. And, in terms of product catalog creating, it makes it easier because I have many products in which this case can exist.

Hello @WmBros !

As of right now, you can create the Decal as an option on the Wheel product under the product options.  You could perhaps use the Radio Button option and have one option with the decal and one without.  You can then set separate prices and SKUs for each of those options on the Edit Product page by clicking directly on the price and SKU fields under the list of options you create.

Another option you may consider if you would like to link additional or secondary products to a product would be to click the View Product button at the top of the Edit Product page, and then place a link to another product in the lower, editable portion of the page.  That may work for you for some other product scenarios you envision, but may not be the best fit for this specific issue.  Here's an article that describes the process in detail:

Lastly, if you wish to see more flexibility in how product options are laid out, you may make a suggestion in our Vote on Features section.  Best of luck to you and happy Weeblying!
