Creating a new directory for a diferent language version of my site
My site is currently in English. I need to create another language version of this site.
I need some help with this.
I was advised that best SEO practice is to create a new directory for the new language site.
What I would like to achieve is a URL structure that looks like this:
English site: example.com/en/content.html
Spanish site: example.com/es/content.html
Currently, my Weebly URL looks like this: example.com/content.html
Thanks.
Cheers,
Joe

Thanks for posting, @JoeRBT. It would not be possible to create sub-directories like that right now. Generally, you've got two options for this:
1. Add an app to your site from the App Center to provide translations: https://www.weebly.com/app-center/search/translate
2. Create additional sites for other languages. If you're using a custom domain, you could use subdomains for this, e.g. es.mydomain.com, it.mydomain.com, with your English site as just mydomain.com.

Thanks for your reply.
My understanding of subdomains is that they’re looked at by search engines as independent sites; thus, when my original site is ranking already, creating a subdomain is not optimal for SEO.
But, creating different language pages in the same directory is even worse for SEO.
The best option would be to use the same domain with different directories.

That's true - they would be viewed as different sites. Using an app from the App Center would probably mean that search engines will just see the site as a site in a single language, since they usually change the language dynamically.

Is there really no way to have two different directories for the two different languages?
Is Weebly planning to create this option in the near future?

Unfortunately, it would not be possible right now. I'm not sure if this is on the roadmap at all - I would recommend posting it to the Vote on Features board if you would like us to add it.

Thanks Adam. Yes, I think I will post it there.
