Since it's an older, non-response theme you can actually turn off the mobile site, yes. On the Settings tab is an option for that which you can uncheck. Once you've republished the desktop site will display on mobile.

Looks like you're using an older, non-responsive theme. If you go to the Theme tab, do you see a button on the lower left to use an updated version?

No, I don't. I know that I can switch to other Themes using Change Theme but I dislike them all and not a single one of those fit me, main page is horrible and provides nothing but empty space and editing CSS files is hell. Is there an alternative to this or can I just disable mobile version of the site totally?

I don't like the way the mobile site dsplays my homepage. My image is alost completely cut off with no way to view it. When I went to "Settings" to uncheck mobilize my website, it does not exist.

Here is the message I get when I am in the Editor and click on Mobile version:

This is a responsive theme, mobile options do not apply.

Please help!

Thanks!

I'm having the same problem with my site. It looked like the OP's site on my phone because it's also not a responsive site. Yeah, I could choose a new responsive theme, but then I'd be back to completely redesigning my site from scratch, which is a rabbit hole if ever there was one. And I keep reading nightmare stories about people losing everything when they change themes, plus Weebly's help on this is all geared towards changing themes at the start of building a site, not once it's already done. I also read about a lot of problems with responsive sites cutting of content and the like. So, no.

Right now I have the mobile optimization turned off. I figure for my business most people will either use a desktop or be using high-end mobile devices that actually function like desktops (e.g., newer iPads). So they can do a little pinch enlarging and get the desktop version of the site on a phone or look at it on a better device. Not the best solution, but better than the mobile optimized version.

My question is: why does the mobile version on older nonresponsive sites look so terrible? Why do we basically have to redesign our sites again from scratch for a mobile version? I mean, nothing is carried over from my desktop site--not the images, slide show, logo, fonts or colors. Only the content is the same, and the site is so bad I'd be better off with no website at all. The amount of labor in recreating all of this again is staggering and as undesirable an option as starting all over again with a new theme to get a responsive site. Has Weebly given any thought to this? Thank you for hearing my frustration and offering feedback!

If you change themes everything should transfer over with it; the only exception to that would be older header slideshows, since newer themes do not include those.

In terms of how the mobile site looks, to me the key is organizing your content properly on the desktop site so it makes sense when stack on mobile. Sometimes it's a matter of splitting your content into separate, successive columns elements so they end up in an order that makes sense.

I'm also having major issues with site layout on the mobile version. Homepage picture is getting cut-off, words are getting cut-off and just overall not looking very professional. How can I remedy this? I like the desktop version, but most people are viewing my site on mobile and it's terrible right now. My site is levelupmyfitness.com

Sorry to hear that, @saloia82. Header/Section images being cropped different is something that can often happen on a mobile site depending on the image, although cropping of text shouldn't be happening. I didn't see any cropped text, though, or at least I couldn't find on your site where it was.

Is there a recommended picture size or maybe a way I can take the picture so that the primary person in the picture doesn't get cut-out when viewed on mobile?

Generally speaking, the bigger the better for the image. I would try to make sure you have a fair amount of space around the subject of your photo. You can always trim some of it out if it turns out there's more space than you need.

Seems like Weebly would offer some guidance on how best to arrange things to look good on mobile.  Having to retro design the mobile site is a pain after all the effort put into the desktop version  Maybe they should START with the mobile version, since the bulk of people access sites on their mobile these days...

Thanks for the feedback, @dbstudio What part of the site did you need to redo? Did you find the content out of order, or was it an image resize issue? Do you use the mobile view in the editor while you are editing?

Turning off mobile view on Settings is a good idea that I didn't realize was possible.  I'll use that until I have desktop version completed, then start messing with mobile view.  Thanks.

Is there a way to get rid of the mobile version for my site?  I formatted much of the site to look a certain way and it doesn't look as good in the mobile version.

Hello Adam!

The website doesn't look anything like the Web version. It looks a little messy on the mobile phone, is there a way or code to make it clearer for mobile use? I use an responsive theme.

Thank you for the reply
