Using custom domain with Free plan

I started making my wife's website, she only wanted a free one but I am being charged $17/month for the starter plan.

How can I change this?

Is the custom domain purchased from us or somewhere else, @brigvanh? If you bought it somewhere else you'll need to upgrade in order to use the domain, but if you bought it through us you shouldn't.
