Stop spam bots from using contact forms
hi
Setting up contact forms on a website is great for getting feedback. However it also a good way to let spam bots attack the website too.
Is there a way to block an IP address from using the contact form?
thanks

I installed the captcha yesterday, and although I have less spam, I still
am getting them. Is there something else I should be doing?

I'm sorry about that. Looks like they are still trying to sort this out. If you or anyone on this thread has not been linked to be updated once the issue is resolved you can create a ticket through support. Thanks again for all your patience!

I haven't heard many complaints over the past few months. When did you client first report this to you? Can you post a link to the contact form so we can take a look at settings?

Hi All,
There is any way to solve this problem? @Bernadette Do you have the steps to follow to add the Captcha feature to prevent spam? And how do I add the keys generated in the captcha google site into the settings of my weebly site?
Greetings.
Thanks.

Hi @cris87e Click on the form, and then Form Options. You will see the toggle for Google Captcha. Can you clarify what you mean by "add the keys generated in the captcha google site into the settings of my weebly site"? Thanks!

The Google Captcha option does not show in my form options. How do I get it as an option?

Hi @ShastaG We recently made a change to contact forms and Google Captcha is now required. There is no longer an option to turn it on or off and this change was made to protect our users from malicious spam. I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

@cris87e, there's no need to generate the keys from Google as the reCaptcha is managed and owned by Weebly.
It’s tricky trying to test the Google Captcha feature as the challenge question is only displayed AFTER you click on the the “submit” button. Also, you will need to clear your cookie or use an incognito window in order for the Captcha feature to kick in. There will be no “I’m not a robot” checkbox at all! For step-by-step instructions on how to test Google Captcha on Weebly, please follow this link:
