Stop spam bots from using contact forms

hi

Setting up contact forms on a website is great for getting feedback. However it also a good way to let spam bots attack the website too.

Is there a way to block an IP address from using the contact form?

thanks

Is there an alternative to the 'pic the three images' version of captcha?  It can get frustratingly hard to get on the same wavelength ...  Is the single click recaptcha version available perhaps?

I am having the same issue. A bunch of spam form fills. And, I enabled captcha and did not solve the problem. I am surprised that Weebly does not have support for things like this.

I am suddenly having exactly the same problem. I enabled Google Captcha, but I'm still receiving the spam. What do I do to stop them?

We're looking into this to see if Google made any changes to their CAPTCHA recently, and if there's something we can do with it to better help stop that. Sorry for the trouble!

Thanks for trying to help. One thing I've noticed is that if I use my contact form on Chrome, Google captcha doesn't appear, but it does on Edge and IE. Could this be a Chrome problem?

It looks like the team is still looking for a resolution on this. If you haven't already created a support ticket through support to be included in updates I can make one for you.

Very sorry for the frustration, @NovaCat. You should be able to enable captcha for your contact forms, but we are also looking for ways to make the forms even more secure. Do you currently have captcha enabled?

As I have read from other weebly experts in addtional comments regarding this problem, CAPTCA does not work for spam bots. It  is really getting worse and worse. Why isnt Weebly doing something about this?

Our spam tools are pretty good at blocking bots, but it's a lot more difficult to stop actual humans from entering spam in a form - particularly if they're willing to enter captcha information. Usually any wave of spammy entries will subside soon as spammers move on.

The CAPTCHA is designed to show when it detects what it perceives as spammy behavior. Google does this so that normal human visitors who want to use the form don't have to always be interrupted by the CAPTCHA.

Thank you Adam! I hope I finally got rid of spammers. I was getting sick and tired of them. I am using Captcha.

I agree with all your points. I am being BLASTED on my contact form. I pay a business subscription. Why should I have to spend additional time block ip's . Do your job WEEBLY, add CAPTCHA.
