I wonder if there was some kind of temporary network issue when it tried to access your sitemap. I would try submitting it again, @angela31 - I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work.

It's not working!!!!! I tried adding my site with /sitemap.com and google isn't picking it up. This is extremely frustrating. Can you please give me a response asap?!

The url you want to give to Google is actually sitemap.xml, @Tee. So if your site is "mysite.com", the url would be mysite.com/sitemap.xml

Hello - I am trying to access my site map using https://www.wateroam.com/sitemap.xml but there is an error appearing. The page says:
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

That is what you expect to see if you view it in a browser, since it's an .XML file and not an .HTML file. It should work fine with any service that asks you to provide a sitemap, though.

Hi Adam,
i have the same issue when i want to add my sitemap to GSC. The list that came out are all in html and when i put it into GSC as it is, it shows error, when i replace .html to .xml the status shows couldnt fetch. Please advice what am i supposed to do to add the sitemap to GSC. Thanks

It's a little tricky for us to troubleshoot third party integrations, but you can try to post a screenshot of the errors you see and it may help us guide you in a better direction.
