I had a similar problem.  I couldn't understand why the comments link wouldnt show even if no comments were written.  I have two blogs, one where the comments link shows, and one where it doesn't.  I had the same settings inside the editor, so didn't make sense.  But, what I discovered is that each of my individual previous posts was set to "no comments" so, the link didn't show.  Soon as you enter the blog post itself, and update that setting to "allow comments" or "require approval" the links do show.  This was confirmed to work.  Now, I'm super happy.

Can I add a comments section to a page that isn't a blog. I would really preffer not to rebuild a large page in order to add a comments section. I feel like many sites that are not 'blogs' have comments sections.

I tried to go to settings and change the page type to 'Blog' however when I go into 'Blog' in settings it says that I don't have a blog.

You wouldn't be able to use the Weebly "comment section" on anything other than a blog post, but there are several third party applications you can embed. I'm sure there's also an available app in our App Center!
