How do I properly add a calendar to my site?
Hello!!
let me start by saying that I am totally illiterate in HTML and I am trying to design a webpage.
I heard that Weebly was very easy. Drag and drop kind of easy but, there are too many limitations that I am sure can be overcomed by modifying the code.
I am trying to add a calendar to my site on the right side or "Blog Sidebar", but this is what I end up with:
So, I would like to know:
a) how can I make the content on the right side (Blog Sidebar) of page "Author, Comments Calendar" bigger in width,
b) How can I propoerly make the calendar fit i that space?
This is the embed code I get from Google calendar:
<iframe src="https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?title=test&
showTitle=0&showCalendars=0&showTz=0&height=150&wkst=2&bgcolor=%23ffffff&
src=%23contacts%40group.v.calendar.google.com&color=%2328754E&ctz=Pacific%2FHonolulu"
style="border-width:0" width="180" height="150" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>
As you can see, I modified it by Google to be 180 x 150 pxls. but all I get in my webpage is the header, nothing else.
Thank you

Hello @scrbbd
We do not advise, that you try increasing the width of your sidebar unless you are well versed in HTML/CSS. Changes to the layout will affect the entire theme. The Google calendar is not really meant to be placed in an area as small as the sidebar. The maximum space that you have for this theme is 180 pixels. Which will, as you have seen, cause a scroll bar to appear beneath the calendar.
As a suggestion, you may want to create a separate page for your calendar. Then link to it from your blog page. In place of where the calendar is you click to enter the word 'Calendar' and link the word to the new standard page, that contains only your calendar. This will allow you to have a much larger calendar, that will be easier for your guests to read.
You could also use a Google Calendar icon in place of the word Calendar. Such as the one, I have attached to this reply. Then link the image to your full sized calendar.

Hello, and thanks for the reply!!
Interesting the way it pops out to you.
As you can see, for me, tyhe calendar is completely cut, and I am worried that people who see it, some of them will see what you see, while others will see what I see.
Also, we need the calendar to be visible in the home screen because in time, students should be able to see it as soon as they get to the page.
We thought of making the link but, it did not fit our goals really.
So, maybe changing the theme?
But we love this theme, its what we were looking for!!
If there isnt a way, there isnt a way, I just wanted to try these setting.
PS-
I tried to find themes from 3rd party sites but, even after doing as the instructions said, it didnt work.
Is it possible to bring 3rd party themes to Weebly?

In that case, instead of having a blog page as your homepage. You could create a standard page for the homepage. Keeping the same theme, but giving you more than enough space. That would allow you to include the calendar, an RSS feed of the most recent blog entries, news, etc. We do have an app that you can use to display recent blog entries here: https://www.weebly.com/app-center/news-rss-feed
We also, have an element called the feed reader, that can be used as well. The only difference is our feed reader cannot be customized. Finally, for a third option for displaying portions of recent blog entries, is a third party service called, https://www.feed.informer.com . This service allows you to customize and display recent blog posts from multiple blogs at once. You'd create your feed, copy the code and paste it into an embed code element on your Weebly site. Just as you do the Google calendar.
Basically, the goal is to give you more space, so you get do what you need, with your content.
You are also, welcome to use a third party theme. There are a number of companies, that create themes specifically for Weebly. We do not endorse any of them, but if you search Google for Weebly themes. You will find a number of them.
Please note that we do not support third party themes in our support center. Any issues would need to be referred back to the maker of the theme.

Just in case, you are not sure how to make the new page the homepage. After you create the new standard page, it will appear at the bottom of the pages list. Simply drag it all the way to the top and you're all set.
