To change the currency of your store, go to Store > Setup and change the currency used there. Note that you'll need to disconnect from any checkout providers in order to do that.

I just provided these instructions on a different post. Can you please take a screenshot of what you see when you click Manage Store>Setup>Checkout?

I see this question did not get followed up on by the original poster, but since I use these posts daily to solve issues, figured I'd contribute.
The setting is located in Store > scroll down to Setup > in Setup, click on Checkout > The last option below the three payment processing options says "Currency" > click on that and change to USD.
