I am using the free version of the site and wish to add a mp3 music file from my hard drive to play in the background I am following the notes I found on the web for doing this on your site ,
4. Adding Background Music in Weebly
If you don’t want to use the external source code then you can add a background music to your free Weebly site by following the below two steps. In this way you will not see any audio player in your site but the music will get auto loaded when a visitor opens your page.
Step1:
- In Weebly editor click on the “Theme” tab
- Click on “Edit HTML/CSS” button
- Under “Assets” section click on “Upload Files(s)” option and upload your .mp3 audio file
Right click on the file and copy the URL of the mp3 file.
Step2:
- If you want to add music to particular page then click on the “Pages” tab and select the page. Go to “SEO Settings > Header Code” section and add the following code.
1
|
<embed src="File path from Step1" auto loop="true" hidden="true">
|
- If you want to add background music to your complete site then paste the same code under “Settings > SEO > Header Code”.
I was able to upload the file but the 2nd part .. right click and copy the URL and pasting that in the code don't work... Right click , left click , or even clicking on it won't give me the URL location on the web site of where my file was uploaded to..
Does the above notes work ? has it changed since that was written? Am I still doing something wrong ?
Please help.
Thanks David Staggs.

Thanks but I finally got it figured out AND working.. thanks anyways
Moderator note: You can also add music to pages of your site using an audio or music app from the App Center. In addition to those, you can also include an audio widget using the embed code section or element.

I'm using the latest version, is it possible for me to add background audio? I see that this solution is for old version only and cannot be used for later version. Please kindly help me for a solution. Or, should I upgrade to be able adding audio?

We don't provide an option for theme customization with the newer website editor right now, @Chi23, so I don't think this method would work. You might want to look for a solution that would either work just in the Embed Code section, or would work using a header code field (you can add one in Website > Integrations).

I have followed the instructions to insert the mp3 file under assets in the edit HTML/CSS section and I am working off of a Mac and cannot right click to get a link. Can you please provide a work-around?

Anything that you add to the Assets folder will have a path like this on the published website:
/files/theme/filename.mp3
If you add your site address before that you should get the full URL of the file.
