How Does the 'Latest' Posting Notification Work?

I wasn't sure where to put this so if this isn't the right place, please feel free to move or even delete it.  I've noticed when looking at the 'Latest' column for numerous threads in the community that what the column claims is the latest actually isn't.  Perfect example:  First photo shows the latest comment for "What are your favorite quotes?" being two weeks ago, when in fact, the latest comment was just Thursday (see second photo).  Am I missing something?

Hello, @Heirloom_Angel...

I sent a PM to @Erin on March 23, 2016 asking her why topics weren't updating the date correctly after someone made a reply. It makes those threads look stagnant even though they are not.

Below was her response:

If image doesn't load... refresh your browser, F5. Otherwise try again later.

I'm sure the DEVs will get it working but I'm guessing it probably isn't a priority.

From what I can tell....it is random!! even if some one replies, their name does not show up.  The replied posts also have no order in the thread.  Instead of being the last post it could get stuck between posts.  Weebly did a very poor job by hiring some ameture UI/UX designer to design this board.

Another example is the pacement on the 'Recent Post' topic.  It was posted 3 mins. ago, but it is place 7th behind responses that were hours old.

@bobafett I've noticed my responses getting placed randomly.  0o  Makes it a tad difficult to follow a thread.  I am glad they 'built' this community though - I think it's great!  I'm sure things will improve as time goes on.  (At least, I hope so.)

Yes, sorry about that. I know it's a bit of a hassle at the moment, but it should be fixed soon. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

@bobafett  I actually just discovered why posts are ending up 'randomly' placed in threads (I think).  It all depends on which post a person responds to.  If I am responding to a specific post, it will insert after that post instead of a the end. With the ability to 'mention' people, placing the most recent content after the very last post on a thread would make the most sense, but that's just my opinion.

I noticed this morning that when I went back a page in the SMILE BREAK > Furry Companion Pictures thread that new photos had been added, but weren't showing up at the end of the thread.

@Erin  Is this something that could be 'announced' so folks are aware that if they want their content in chronological order it should be placed at the end?  If replies in threads were 'nested' (i.e.; replies indented), it would be a lot easier to follow.  Just wondering.

I think it is not a good design.  Most people by habbit would like to see the last post and if it was updated they would click on the link.  I still think it is random.

@Heirloom_Angel - You are correct.

If you click on the reply button to a member's particular response then YOUR post will be placed directly after it instead of becoming the "last" post in that thread.

That is why I always click on the reply button located in the OP (original post) of a thread, doing so assures that my response is placed in chronological order.

Yes, that means I always go to page 1 of the Word Association Game or SMILE BREAK... then click on the REPLY button just below the instructions of either OP.

Other forums usually have a reply box at the bottom of each page and using it posts each response in chronological order (see screenshot below).

Hey, all!

We are definitely working on this and hope to have it fixed soon. Sorry if it's causing a bit of frustration! I really appreciate your patience, and I'll let you know when everything is working correctly.

Thanks!

I have also noticed all of these things mentioned in this thread.  It's clear though that this is a new community and very much a work in progress.  I have every confidence that our team will iron out the glitches as soon as they can.

It is helpful to point out the glitches though.  Woman Happy
