Deleting an image

How can I delete an uploaded image so it will not appear in Google images? The image was removed from the blog page, but it still appears when doing a Google search.

Did you delete the image element you used to upload the image, or did you just delete the blog post that the image on it? Do you have the URL of the image?

HI Adam, I deleted the image that the was posted on the blog entry. The blog is still posted but the image has been deleted.
The image is still on google search when you search my name leah daniels butler - but when i click on view image i get this error.

Deleting the image is exactly what you needed to do, so when Google crawls your site again it'll see that image no longer exists and drop it from search results.  Do you have Google Webmaster Tools set up with your site?

Thanks Adam! the photo is no longer in the search when you google my name. No I don't have a google webmaster tool set up. Is that something I should have, if so how do I go about getting it and what is it actually for? Please excuse my ignorance. I built my site myself and I am not tech savvy at all.

You probably don't need to worry about it since the photo no longer shows.  If you're interested in more detailed analytics, though, it's worth taking a look at our guide:

The file may still be in your account, @ememememe. Deleting a page but not deleting the elements on the page won't delete the files themselves. Do you have the URL of a file that you want removed? If so, submit a ticket to our Customer Success team and they can help remove the file for you:

Gold day! May I know how will I delete my pictures from the previous site I made which I already deleted? Whenever I search my name on Google, my pictures will appear which I really don't want to be on public. I can't recover the site that's why I can't delete my old pictures there. Images and other files are only deleted when the element used to upload them is deleted. I can restore a deleted site for you so you can delete these elements off of the site, thereby deleting the files themselves. Once that's done it's just a matter of waiting for Google to update its seach index.

What site did you add these images to?

Hi Adam,

When I try to delete an image or backround, i'm not sure, it does not have an option for me to delete.  The only option I have is to 'Edit Backround" or "Replace Header Layout". PLease help me out with my website.

It sounds like you're using a Header. You can disable that entirely under the Pages menu for that page.

I am having the same problem.

No option comes up that allows me to delete the photo that is on top.

Can you fix it or have whatever needs to come up to delete it come up so I can take care of it?

I do not understand how your reply to the previous poster would apply to my problems.  Driving me nuts.  If I need to delete a header, how do I do that?  I have spent hours trying to resolve the problem.

Oh thanks. I just fixed the page.  As you mentioned, it was the header.  I disabled it and the problem disappeared.  You learn something new every day.  I have a lot of followers (how this happed I do not know, but it did).  They would all end up emailing me complaining.  No idea how I turned the header on because I pretty much do the same thing on every blog page to minimize problems.  2 hours trying to fix it and then I finally see your answer to the problem; I just had to find where the header thing was.  No need for you to do anything, but thanks.  I must have screwed it up when I tried to change the main photo.
