Color box when hovering over external links

I would really like it if there was not a colored box behind my external links on my site I am working on.

What can I do to get rid of the box??

@ArtArchive:  I don't know which theme you are using, but the theme would have some option.  In absence of that, just change the theme.  If you are fond of the fonts used in the theme just get its name and color code from the existing theme and change the fonts in new theme.
