App works in the editor but not in the published site

I have added the quite simple Back To Top button to my site. A few days ago I noticed it wasn't working (can't say when it stopped). The odd thing is, it is working inside the editor but not in the published site.

No help from the author is available.

Any ideas?

@whitemonkey I just managed to get it to work as expected. I removed the app, re-added it and dropped it into my footer. I found this by trial and error and it actually has a benefit, in that I don't have to add it by hand everywhere. The Weebly footer is common to all pages, therefore adding it once is enough for all.

As to why this behavior exists when you place it in the body of the page, I have no idea. I suspected that dropping it in the footer made it "floating", but this : <a href="#" class="back-to-top back-to-top-right" style="display: inline;"></a> code still lies behind it in the published site. It's the *footer position* at the end of the page that makes the difference, in what way I cannot know.

At least now my site works as before.

Thank you both @whitemonkey  and @NJRFTF  for your time and willingness to help out.

I have been using it for over a year on my site, settings are at the defaults. I even removed it yesterday trying to figure out what had happened. I added it - again, using the defaults - again, but only on the Home page (both Greek and English). Still, nothing's changed.

Icon color #FFC800

Icon Size (pixels) 60
Speed 3
Bottom Space (pixel) 70

Position Right
Side Space (pixel) 30

I have tried Position Left too....

Ok, I have an update on this. I moved the position of the control within my page and noticed that :

1) It does appear in the published site, albeit at the position where it is dropped. In the editor it appears at the bottom right corner, outside my content. In the published site it appears as being InLine.

2) It does not float in the published site. It retains its position, thus moving upwards as I scroll down the page, and eventually disappears as it rolls off the top of the window. Definitely "InLine" behavior.

Is it possible that someone at Weebly changed the template I have used and I inherited something that causes this?

It should at least be floating!!!!

Edit : I placed the control about 2/3 down the page. It is very easy to see now that it is static, no floating whatsoever.

@whitemonkey I thought of the same thing and actually tested without the McAfee/TrustedSite badge. No change. I cannot do without the language change though. Just think of it... it would all be Greek to you...!!!

I also played around with the position and shape of the flags. Starting with bottom left and ending with top right. No change....

@whitemonkey Well, surely enough I found this piece of code controlling the Back_To_Top icon, using Chrome's Developer Tools :

<a href="#" class="back-to-top back-to-top-right" style="display: inline;"></a>

If I am not THAT mistaken, it should say "floating" and not "inline".

The thing is, how do override it. I have very limited experience on HTML. I don't even know how it got there in the first place.

@GThalassinosNet

great u found it    . when things dt work, theres always some  extra code somewhere that screws things up

did u delete all the scroll to top elements hit publish, clear yr cache, and re drag a new element

as to how to change it, thats a bit beyond me....  @NJRFTF  and @BJ   are good with this

Great to hear  @GThalassinosNet

I dt have a footer  so i add the element to each page

Though i use template sections   Smiley Wink)

The bottom section is the DISQUS code   and the back to top element.

Just copy the section as and when   , toggle the disqus code relevant to that page  et voila

Or i even copy my last page   change the seo settings, change the title.   Delete the middle section containing the text and photos   and   add new text and photos     so i get conformity
