Anyone annoyed at the ads appearing in scribd?
Hello,
I run a dance studio and have had a paid weebly account to host my site fo the last three years. I've always used scribd, since it is the native solution in Weebly, to post my class schedules. I just updated my fall schedule and noticed that now when my customers click on a schedule to view it they are now served ads on the scribd page. This is completely unnacceptable! I pay weebly to host my site and this "upgraded" pay service should NOT serve ANY ads to my customers. It make my business look like it's using a cheap or free service. NOT GOOD!
This in NOT the user experience I pay Weebly for and must stop immediatley or I'm moving my site to another hosting service.
Anyone else experience this?

I've not seen this yet myself, @bluesnote. Are these showing up within the embedded document on your page, or at Scribd itself? Can you provide me a link to a page on your site where you're seeing this?

Thanks for providing the link. As a third party we naturally don't have any control over Scribd putting ads on their own site, though I'll share your feedback with the rest of the team.

Adam,
I get that, but since I pay to have Weebly host I would expect to have complete control over any Weebly ad in relative its affect on my site's user experience. I don't want my website to sell them anything other than what I sell them. I don't think that's unreasonable. Nor is it unreasonable to expect Weebly to police it. I'm paying Weebly so that I can control the shiny lights and I don't want any noise between me and my customer that I can't control. This simply needs to stop.
Thank you for your swift response. I do appreciate and recognize that.
Best,
Albert

I couldn't agree more. I designed a web site for a church that I used to work at. I am tasked with updating the pasters written sermons, which I use scribed. I'm not getting good feedback and they are not happy with the adds and prompts to join scribed so they can use the print feature. These people are elderly and computers and websites are trouble enough. It also goes down pretty often and for long periods before it is back up. I have made available for them to also view the sermons via PDF files but I think the scribed feature is a cleaner looking thing to use, except for the ads and prompts to join. I used to use a product called Crockadile or something like that when scribed wasn't working but they went out of business. Anyway, I wish Weebly could come up with some better. PDF are ok but there big a bulky looking so I hope something can be done to fix the document feature.

Have gottent that "we can't do much as a 3rd party", but this Scribd thing has been going bad for a long, long time. Must be some other solution you can provide your customers. We shouldn't have to improvise some workaround to get a simple document on our web pages. Yes, I do hope you do bring this to the others attention however I don't think this is new information to them. Love Weebly but that document thing is a real problem

I agree. It's unacceptable for paid hosting. It makes me look cheap infront of my customers. I can't have that. And to have Weebly put the onus on scribd is a pure cop out.

There's a third party app in our App Center that can be used to display PDFs. You might want to check that out and see if it would work for you:
