Detailed Archives
I just wanted to put it out there that I believe an excellent upgrade to the Archive app on the Weebly site would be to allow further details in the Archives other than just by the month and year. I am primarily a blog user and have several blog posts every month. I would love for visitors to my blog to be able to navigate between my blog posts easier by either seeing a list of my blog posts somewhere or by being able to click on a certain month in the Archives and see a list of all the blog posts for that month listed by title. This seems like such a basic necessity for a blog. I am just wondering why Weebly doesn't have this capability yet. When can we see something like this in the Weebly Editor?

Hey @SaraW Yes, that is absolutely possible. When you click on your blog page in the editor you should see an archive or categories element to add to page. I actually think there's maybe one theme that doesn't have the option... but I could be remembering that wrong. Can you post a link to your site so I can check something? Thanks!

Thanks for posting, @SaraW. I think I misread (or read too quickly) your first post. I thought you didn't already have your archive or category element on the page. Sometimes users delete it or don't use it, but I can see from your site that you do have it enabled. You want for a user to click on one of the archived months and instead of seeing the blog page as is, would want the user to see just a list (by title) of each blog post. Correct?
This is not an option in the editor, although, there may be an app that has this functionality. I don't know off the top of my head as I don't really blog that much, but I'm pretty sure @whitemonkey does something like this with his blog. Full disclaimer, I'm pretty sure he manually created everything, but he may be able to provide a suggestion or confirm if he used any third party integration.

Hi. Thanks for the mention
I dont us the month archive but i use the categories (sometimes) and when one clicks on the category below the blog all posts show.. as per the regular blog feed.. i use the read more break . I dont get just the post title.
Yes I manually create related posts: so when i was in The Balkans last month i cut and paste a list of related posts and put it on the end of each post. Yes its long winded. But it works..
And manually create a

I am working on something new and am switching to standard pages. And i have sections made up so i just copy the relevant section to page and edit the text/ link
I manually created a last post and next post. Added to a section and put the section to the bottom of the post.
Its not ideal but it work..

Oh, I did something similar to this with one of my test sites in training. I used a standard page and a gallery app to make some images and then linked to the appropriate blog post per image. Not quite what OP was going for or what you are working on, but just some extra feedback.

@Bernadette all feed back is good..... with the gallery icon u get 2 images side by side on mobile version... which would make .. last post and next post feeds ideal but the images would be kindda very large/too large on desk top version.... there must be a widget/app somewhere....that will work on Weebly...
one is linkwithin i think... but is not compatible with Weebly...
new project is that i wil be going back on the road again.... and https://www.nomadicbackpacker.com will focus on new happenings... 😲😲😲😲😲

Can you use the Hide app maybe? Or Column Lock?

@Bernadette and all other Weebly users
manually creating a 'next post and last post feed' with the help of the column lock app.. works a treat on mobile view!!
took a screen shot :
PS the new community search KHOROS works a treat....also for commenting... as u can add the @ function quicker @Adam

No problem! We used to use a third party search tool, and now we're using native search so it can use extra features specific to our forum software.

I have the Archives function implemented in the Sidebar. I have posts going back to 2010. There are 83 months listed in my sidebar and growing. I don't use Categories because that would just add to the problem.
For short posts, the Archives list is the only thing on my page after the end of a short article.
Dear Weebly,
I am a very satisfied customer and have been so for years. Even the things that I don't like, I have found a satisfactory workaround.
Quite honestly, this Archives length issue is irresponsible on your part. You have likely tens of thousands of customers who have the same issue that I have. And many posts in this Community feedbak section disciussing the very same issue.
There are many options that could be offered to your customers, anywhere from having an option to cap the list at a user optional number, or quite simply, an arbitrary numer of your choosing, say 24 months.
In my estimation, the simple solution would take you less than two weeks to code and test.
I don't understand your reticence to improve this function. Please fix this, I don't want to delete the list,.
