Payroll Process issue

For two pay periods, Square failed to process my payroll. Now Im having to pay taxes and paychecks manually. Square is claiming failed debit due to insufficient funds which is far from reality. What is happening with Square payroll. Is it time to shop for another company?

Hello. Both times Ive asked Square Payroll to help, first was 5/31 and the second time was 6/13. Neither one gave me any solution or reason as to why the error with payroll occurred. I called my bank to make sure nothing was flagged or fraud and they confirmed that the account was in great status. I had to process my tax payment, which by the way, if you don’t have any experience on where to file and pay, it takes over a week to even receive a pin number from the government. The link you have posted for help under payroll is useless. It does not tell anybody which tax form to file it and if you don’t know where to look, you can easily file it incorrectly. Do better Square with your customer service, links, Q&A, information and managing your vendors when errors such as my situation occurs. There was ZERO solution. Its time for Small Business such as mine to search for a better payroll service. SQUARE, you are living up to your reputation as being the worst customer service for payroll. 

I switched to Square Payroll in February. Square has withdrawn money for state income taxes but the payments have not been received by my state's comptroller. Two payments were rejected because the returns were filed incorrectly. There is no record of the other payments or filings. Square Payroll has told me they cannot provide copies of the filings or documentation of payments. Has anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve this with Square?

When you go to payroll > tax forms you aren't able to see the tax forms that are sent to your State?

Every single filing form (State, Federal, and New Hire) are listed there for us to review and download.

Thank you for your reply. The unemployment filings and Federal filings are there, but not State. I've asked for copies from Square Payroll and they are unable to provide copies.

I am having the same issue. I have called Square Payroll several times and asked for proof that they made state income tax payments on my behalf. I was told repeatedly that they could not provide that information. I posted last night in this community forum and VOILA! I received an Excel spreadsheet of ACH tracking codes this morning. I'm still waiting for a call back from Square Payroll to resolve this.

What state are you in? I'm in New York and I can log on and download all my filings.

I'm in Maryland. I don't know why Square doesn't post the form. I have spent hours on the phone and in back and forth emails asking for them. Or at least some form of tracking id that I could take to my in person meeting with the Comptroller yesterday. Just last week I was on the phone for 20 minutes with a Square Payroll Support trying to get submission receipts and I was told Square did not have them to give me. Yesterday, I posted on this public community board and VOILA! I had a spreadsheet from Square in my Inbox with ACH tracing information. 

 

I like your shop. I may order an Evil Eye Hairclip for Warding of Bad Vibes if this doesn't get resolved soon. 🙂

Please note, Square Payroll utilizes ACH Credit to remit your withholding tax payments, which serve as both a withholding tax return and a payment in certain states. It is not required to submit a separate withholding tax return to these state agencies once the payment is remitted.
