how to create a downpayment on register?

Hi I am trying to figure out a way to create a deposit for square register. Say for example a total bill of $100 paid $50 credit card charge today then $50 tomorrow. I tried creating a new ticket and splitting the amount but it won't let me split the amount and exit the transaction to be saved for later, I have to manually write down on the note that the customer paid and have to reopen the ticket with incorrect remaining balance the next day.

What I do is to have a line item for a down payment or partial payment and the customer pays for this item as a completed transaction.

When the final price is determined, then I create a new item for them to pay as a completely separate transaction.

This is a feature that has been requested in the past, especially for things like a bar tab but so far is not yet implemented.

thank you! let me try that today, its a little frustrating since we are a fast food to go place having a crazy line on rush hour and have to go through manually writing down or creating two transactions
