Only in stock variations visible

Greetings!

Is there a way to set my store to not show variations that are out of stock? I have 10 scents of shampoo, but I only want the ones that are in stock to show in the drop down on the website.

Hey there, @CFFSusie

Welcome to the Community!

I want to gather some more information on your set up before pointing you in a certain direction.

Do you have any low stock alerts set up for these variations, as well?

Could you give me some more information how you have your items set up?

I will keep an eye out for your reply👀

Greetings!

I have low stock alerts set up for variations to alert when stock gets to 0.

I am not sure what you are asking about how they are set up. They are all physical items.

Thank you for your help!

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thank you for confirming, @CFFSusie

Check your settings under your Item preferences with your Online Store.

Go to your Dashboard > Online > Settings > Item Preferences > Toggle off: "Display out of stock items on site".

This would remove those sold out items from showing. Give this a try and let me know if you have any issues.

I have already done this. I don't want to remove out of stock items. I want to remove out of stock VARIATIONS. I have a tshirt, size small is sold out. I want only Medium and Large to show in the drop down. Does anyone know how to do this?

Ah okay, @CFFSusie

Thank you for giving that a try. What you're seeing is the item and all of the variations are showing out of stock when only one variation is out of stock? Is that correct?

I want to make sure we are on the same page and seeing the same things.

NO. Please read the below description as I don't know how to make this easier for you to understand.

I have a item.

It has variations of size - small and large.

It has variations of scent - 10 different variations.

This creates essentially 20 different items. If you pick small, then there are 10 scent choices. If you pick large, then there are 10 scent choices.

When one item - small, scent 1 - is out of stock it still shows in the drop down list. I want the list to only show the variations that are actually available. If you choose small, then only 5 scents that are in stock as small will show on the list. If you choose large, then only the 8 scents that are in stock as large will show on the list.

How do I make it so the list only shows the variations that are in stock? This is fairly basic functionality. Who, as a consumer, wants to go on a website and have to click through 20 different variations to find the ones that are in stock?

I am guessing this is not possible which is super frustrating, since I have spent 2 months trying to set this stupid website up and now it is going to chase away my customers.

Also, it is super frustrating trying to ask this darn question for 2 weeks with literally no help. What is the point of a seller community to ask questions if no one answers questions?

Thank you for clarifying, @CFFSusie. Apologies for the frustration on your end while I got to the bottom of this for you.

After speaking with a couple of other teams, removing those sold out items from the actual drop down menu would be a Feature Request at the moment. From what we discussed, this has been a huge Feature Request - so our Product Team is working on adding this to our roadmap for the future.

So there is no way for me to ensure my customers aren't frustrated unless I turn off inventory and then scramble to get the stock if it is sold out.

I have literally wasted 2 months building this website.

I 100 percent share your frustration and felt like this was a gut punch after MONTHS of entering and training others to to enter over a thousand pieces of inventory flawlesslessly and how square support staff told me to . Then this switch occurred right as we were going to go online. This is a feature that is needed asap.  I am allready looking into leaving square .
