Need to update my items based on SKU

I have my legacy POS system for my office and school suplies stores. I would like to use square as secondary/mobile POS. I have already uploaded my initial items catalog but I need to update prices and add additional items. I have successfully downloaded the template but the SKU is treated as numeric and is loosing the left zeros. I was planing to use the SKU as my key to link my legacy sys catalog and the template. Is there any way to accomplish this? BTW, I have 9,200 store items in my catalog.

I have the same issue in Excel when opening any CSV file that contains numbers with leading zeroes.  Excel automatically treats them as numbers instead of text and removes the zeroes.  The same thing happens when typing or pasting into Excel.
I use Excel's "Text" formatting to avoid losing leading zeroes. You should find this article helpful: Import Items Online.  The "SKU Formatting" section talks about Text formatting to avoid dropping leading zeroes.

@Owl - Thanks for the help! 🙏

@PapeleriaPRECOR - Please check out the article that was referenced. There is specifically a "Troubleshoot the Item Import Tool" section that addresses your question. I actually helped write it, so I'm confident you'll find it useful. 😉
