Is there a way to stop an automatic receipt when doing a manual transaction?

I don't wish to have the receipt automatically going to the customer when I charge their card manually. We email the receipt on our letterhead (we are contractors) and they want that and yet each time I put in a manual cc it automatically sends them a receipt. How can I turn it off?
