Is there a way to assign a modifier to a category?
Is there a way to assign a item modifier to a category? Because the square online store does not currently allow us to charge sales tax on shipping (and currently shipping charges come up as "Uncategorized" in the Category report) I have created item modifiers to allow for shipping charges to be added to an item pre-tax. That being said, I want to be able to keep track of the "sale" of the modifier separately from the sale of the item. If a t-shirt is $10 and the modifier is shipping at $4, I want to be able to see the $10 in my categegory report for shirts and the $4 in the category report for shipping.

Hey @legacyale, welcome to the seller community and thanks for bringing this up.
At this time, the ability to assign a modifier to a category isn't available. As for shipping and your Online Store, I do have a few suggestions:
- Create specific price points (e.g. one set for taxed items and another for non-taxed items). More in this thread: Different Shipping options in Online Store?
- Consider having a look at our shipping partner apps: App Marketplace > eCommerce.
- Have a look at our eCommerce partners, who offer more options for customizing online store layouts and operations: Launching an online store? You’ve got options with Square!
I realize that that this is a lot of information. Rest assured that I'll be sharing your post with our Online Store team and point out how adding more shipping/tax settings would be helpful for your business.

I'm experiencing a similar problem with the Modifiers coming up "unclassified". We're a salon and set up our services to have colour services with modifiers for clients who essentially have more hair, thus more time and/or products. Therefore, the Item set up is Regular 1.5hr, then modifiers for 2hr, 2.5hr etc.
It's really annoying that a modifier to a categorized item comes up "uncategorized". I can see where the modifier might not be able to have a different category from the primary item, but to uncategorize the modifier? This doesn't make any sense. It does this for services and products so at the end of the day, the MAJORITY of our sales are Uncategorized and this is really a big problem.
