How does one start with Square yet stay in a store as well?

I am a furniture painter. My pieces are all in a store where I rent space. How does one integrate that kind of business with Square?

Hi Susiepaints,

Keep it simple - start out with Square's free POS system application  - setup your Square account with the basic info, download the app to your smart phone or tablet and you're in business.  To make life easier, consider what Square hardware would work best for you.  For example, we use an iPad with Square's Stand, a receipt printer and Square’s contactless and chip reader.  It's basically straight forward  - the investment is minimal especially if you already have a compatible iPad.  We have a physical shop and have been using Square for quite some time - it works.  As for adding the items you want to sell to the app - this can be simple or more advanced and there can be a learning curve.  What we did was the easiest - for example, we create and sell handmade Fabric Pins, we have over 200 original one of a kind Pins.  For the item setup we just created an item named Pins with no price or description or inventory.  We select Pins from the main menu, enter the item number and price - the app calculates the tax and prints the receipt.   What works for us may not work for others - it's all based on your specific requirements.  Square has many options for both your needs and hardware requirements.

@Susiepaints Seems like you'd have a pretty basic setup with each of your items to sell in person through the store. You could also sell online or anyplace you may roam via your mobile device using square. If you track inventory for each item, it would be unavailable for purchase online if already sold.

A couple videos that could be helpful as you consider how to get started...
