How do i mark down the price of an item?

Hi,

I'm using Square at a grocery store and we occassionaly mark down the price of items. For example, $9 of butter was marked down to $8 as the exp date was approaching.

In this case, is there any way to ring it up as normal and adjust the price? For inventory and acconting purposes, I'd NOT like to set up another item for each discoutned item.

Does anyone have any ideas how to do this?

From the Dashboard, select Items from the left menu, then select the item to edit.

In the Edit Item page, in the Variations table, click the blue down arrow next to the price.

This will bring up the "Adjust Price Per Location" window.

Enter the new price, click Done button, then click Save button.

Unfortuantely, there is no good discount feature in Square 😞

OPTIONS:

1) Just change the price, then change it back when the sale is over.  This is a fair option when it's just one item.

2) Tap the item and select a $1 off discount EVERY TIME the item is added to a sale.  This is obviously a terrible option becuase it's time consuming and mistakes will be made.

As mentioned before, you can change the price by location (if you even have multiple locations).

If you are often running sales on many items during different periods of time, you'll be spending a lot of time manually changing prices.  There's currently no way around it.  Grrr.

One thing you can do it create a Google Calendar for "Square Updates".  Then share that calendar with someone you put in charge of changing prices every day.  Then you can create events on the calendar for each sale and lay out a plan for sale prices over time.
