We are a therapuetic program and have many clients who want to use their Health Savings Account (HSA). However, when we swipe their cards or manually put the numbers in, the cards are declined. How do we fix this problem? Do the customers need to contact their HSA?
Thanks so much.

Hi @sallyjanemixon, great question!
Licensed health care providers can process HSA cards just like any other cards. If you selected the Medical Practitioner, Medical Services, or Dentistry business category when you signed up, you shouldn't have any issue accepting these cards. If you believe your business category needs to be updated, just get in touch with our Support Team. Once they collect some details, they'll be able to adjust your business type
You can check out this article has more info about accepting HSA/FSA cards.

Hey @jgully!
Welcome to the Community! The first page of a thread typically contains the solution to the OP's topic under The Best Answer. In this case, The Best Answer from George at the top of the first page speaks on the ability to accept HSA or FSA cards with Square. I've pasted it below in case you are having issues seeing it:

I'm a psychotherapist. I signed up as a health care professional and I process HSA using the Credit Card option on the software. I haven't had any difficulty.

How to get your business properly identified as medical? Having problems identifying my business as medical which makes me unable to process HRA and HSA cards according to troubleshooting. Any other medical groups correctly classified and how did you do that?

Terrific question.
Essentially, if you selected Medical Practitioner, Medical Services, or Dentistry for your business category when you signed up, you should be good to go. If you believe your business category needs to be updated, get in touch: http://squ.re/1SMoeIH. And there's more info on accepting HSA cards above!

I have an inquiry regarding a dental office using Square. Does Square accept Flex Pay? Many clients have this card from their employer and they are only allowed to swipe this card at medical offices.

Do you mean payflex? Where you set aside money from your paycheck for health care?
According to their website "Use the PayFlex Debit Card at qualified merchants where MasterCard is accepted to pay for eligible items including out-of-pocket medical, dental, prescription, hearing, and vision expenses."
I don't know if square accepts it but if it has a visa or MasterCard logo I'd guess there's a good chance it would but someone from support here would have to weigh in.

The medical flex spending cards are getting declined because I come up as "professional" instead of "physician". Any other physicians having this problem and know how to fix this??

@Nferrell - If you can reach out directly, we'd be happy to take a look at your Merchant Category Code (MCC) to make sure it best matches your business. Thanks!

I think I selected the MCC for a medical (etc) professional when I first set up my account however I'm not certain whether I did. I went to the Account area of the website to check on this but did not see information on the MCC associated with the account. Is there some way to check which MCC is associated with the account before I run a FSA/MSA benny card and then, if necessary, change the MCC? I'm hoping I can do this on my own without waiting for a response from Customer Service.
