Customer Discounts

Hi there!

I've looked everywhere to see if this question was posted, but I didn't seem to find it asked anywhere. I was just wondering about discounts and how they are supposed to show up at the register to the customer.

For example, I am running a sale on pants for 50% off. Let's just say the pants are $20.

This is what it looks like to me on the register and what my customer sees as well.

Item #44054220           $20* *This item is discounted for 50%

Discounts                    -$10.00

Tax                                 $0.07

Total                              $10.70

You could say common sense would say that would be $10 and then add tax, but to make it easier for customers to understand especially if they are purchasing multiple items and all have different discounts. The customer would then be able to see the new sale price of each item as it is being rung up, rather than after the receipt prints and reflects those discounts. (i.e.: $20 on item #44054220 would be $10 instead of showing $20 to the customer and then the discount of $10 prior to the receipt printing). Hopefully this makes sense. I wasn't sure if something in my settings was turned off or if that is how Square has it set up. If someone could help me, I'd appreciate it! Thank you so much.

Ahh yes I see what you're saying @christina7. There's not a setting or toggle to have the discounted items show that way. But I'm more than happy to pass this feedback to our Product teams!
