Can you sell Gift eCards through Square Register?

We recently switched from Square stand to Square Register.  We were able to sell eCards to customers during checkout.  Can we sell eCards through Square Register?

As of right now, you can only sell eGift Cards in-store on the POS app on iOS - it is currently not on option on Register, but it is coming soon!

That is a good question, I can see lots of information about Square POS app but I don't see mention of it.  I don't have a Square Register so I can't look, I really wish I had one but I don't see the need to spend on it when the Square Stand works in our situation.

@katieand or @Kpay can you advise on if this is possible?

@Helen Hi,  if a customer purchases an egift card via our online store, can they redeem it in store via Register?  We sell plastic cards in store. But during this time with COVID19 we want customers to buy ecards and shop with us after we reopen

@MoniJ @Absolutely! As long the register is signed into the same account they can redeem the eGift Cards they purchased online in-store on your registers!

Can someone please tell me where to find the button to sell e-cards on my new square register? I have been so frustrated with this new purchase, not to mention the high price tag, it does not do a lot of what the pos tablet did.

Thank you Frida for the info! After contacting square again I was told that I should have selected standard and not retail when first powering up. I did not see any explanation of what either meant and I figured since I had retail plus I was suppose to select retail. So I am on my way to a better experience now that I am on the right software for the register 🙂

Is there a reason you want to switch from Retail to the standard Point of Sale?

You're able to complete everything in Retail that you normally can in the standard version. The only different would be Retail offers some more bells and whistles.
