Applying eGift Cards to purchases under $1

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: Issue processing gift card purchases under $1?

I have found that when I have tried to apply a value previously paid by CC onto a gift card the system will not process the transaction because the amount is zero. In other words, I purchase a $50 egift certificate, then apply a $50 discount because they have already given us a $50 payment in another transaction, the system will not process because the amount is less than $1.

Also, egift cards processed at the register are not available immediately to process a sale. Does the customer have to validate the card via email before it can be seen on our end?

Hi @Momof4! I started a new thread for your post because I sounds like a separate issue.

Can you share a bit more information about these transactions? I'm not sure I understand! If you have a sale for $50 and you apply a $50 discount the total 'amount' of the sale will be $0. If a customer wants to use an eGift card for a sale you can enter their redemption code:

  1. Enter the amount of the charge or add items to the cart.
  2. Tap Charge > Select Gift Cards.
  3. Enter your customers 16 digit redemption code (from their eGift card email) and complete the sale or tap Charge to enter another payment card to pay the balance.

And for your second question, do you mean there seems to be a delay when your customers receive the eGift card or do you redeem gift cards by looking up the customer in the app?

I'll keep an eye out for your reply!
