Add hyperlink to external website in story section

Hello community!

I am creating several stories on my site to expand the knowledge of the particular woodworking that I do. I give a little bit of information in the story but would like to create a clickable link to another website for more in depth info on the subject. Is there a way to do this?

I've tried creating the story in Microsoft word and adding the link there then copy and pasting the whole story to square. The link shows up in blue and is clickable but it gives an error every time I click it.

Also I would like to add a clickable email address so people can send me an email from the story. When I make link in word and paste it into the story it shows up as clickable but when i preview the page and click it it returns a google error that i can't get rid of. I have to refresh the page.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey @EricLivesay, I'm just stepping in for Bernadette for a bit here!

About the email address - I think the issue is because currently the website is in preview mode only and not yet live. I test it out on my own website and when it's live on desktop, customers will be given an email pop-up when they click the email address.

About adding a link in the description of an item - I've also tested this and if you've pasted the URL to the page as an External Link, it'll open just fine on the browser when the website is published.

I hope this will help but let me know if there's anything else I can do for you!

Hi @EricLivesay 😊

I helped you out with your email question here, but can you give us some more details about the issue you are running into with the story page? Are you testing the link from within the editor?

Thanks for your help. Yes I'm testing it from with in the editor. I've got the external links figured out, thanks to you. But I'm still having 2 issues. 1 is the email that I mentioned. When I click preview and then click the email address I get an error. If i try it on my phone my email app opens and the email address is shown. But not on my laptop. Click the email addressClick the email addressGoogle error screenGoogle error screenClose preview and error still thereClose preview and error still there

The second issue is trying to add a link in the description of an item. When I highlight a specific text and then click the link button the only things that shows up in the Insert Link pop up window is External Link, Email, and Phone Number. I want to be able to link to one of my stories so my customer can get more information on how I make a particular piece. Currently I've chosen external link and then pasted the url of the story but I can't test it until I publish my site and I'm a long ways off from being ready for that.

Thanks so much for you help! I tried emailing customer support and still haven't heard from them. It's nice to have a good community to rely on.

And thanks to Bernadette too. You're both marvelous people!

Have a wonderful day!
