Hi Sellers! 👋
We’re excited to announce that you can enable Cash App Pay as a payment method, giving your customers the ability to pay outstanding invoices directly from their Cash App balance. Currently, Square Invoices supports a number of payment methods, including credit and debit cards, ACH bank transfers, Gift Cards, Afterpay, and now: Cash App Pay!

Now you can accept payment directly from Cash App, where your customers can pay invoices using their current Cash App balance or linked debit card.

To enable Cash App Pay, simply select Cash App Pay as an accepted payment method when creating an Invoice.
On Dashboard
- Go to Invoices in your Square Dashboard
- Click on Create Invoice
- Fill out customer information and invoice details
- Under Payment options, select Cash App Pay
- Fill out final details
- Preview, save, or send your invoice
On mobile
- Open the Square Invoices app
- Select Invoices and tap + to create a new invoice
- Fill out customer information and invoice details
- Under Payment methods accepted, select Cash App Pay
- Fill out final details

4 - Benefits of the new features.
This new payment method gives your customers another quick and easy way to pay you, while still allowing you to manage your business tracking and reporting with Square Invoices.
Cash App Pay processing rate is 2.9% + 30¢ per invoice. There are no set up or hidden fees.
Cash App Pay is a safe and secure payment option protected by end-to-end payment, security, authentication plus dispute and chargeback management from Cash App. We take on liability for consumer fraud*.
5 - Additional resources:
Enable Cash App Pay on your next Invoice
*Consumer fraud means an unauthorized payment, pursuant to Regulation E, 12 CFR Section 1005.2(m), made in connection with a Cash App account. Consumer fraud does not extend to other instances of consumer abuse or fraud, including, but not limited to, referral abuse or collusion, or to payments a merchant knew or should have known were unauthorized. For the avoidance of doubt, Cash App's liability coverage does not extend to fraud involving fraudulent merchants, fraudulent merchant activity, or any form of collusion or bad acts involving merchants.
Cash App Pay is only available in the US. At this time, it is only available in English.

Thanks for the update. I doubt I will get many customers who actually use it, but still its a nice feature to offer as payment option on an invoice vs "needing" to physically setup and offer different types of payment options for customers.

Why would I give a customer this option when I have succesfully offered they pay an invoice via CashApp on P2P arrangement, circumventing the fee loss. When I receive any forms of payment off platform, I go into Dashboard and add the payment to the invoice and save the 3% loss. I'm as profit driven as Square is. Thanks, but no thanks.

I charge a 3% fee for any cards used, regardless. I give them the option to save 3% by paying cash or check made out to my business.
Giving the customer this option on an invoice, allows me for my business not to have to physically mess with "yet another" payment platform directly. It's a win win for me.

I'm so intrigued by this, @Minion! Out of curiosity, how do people generally respond to the 3% fee? On one hand, that seems totally reasonable to me -- it's the cost of the convenience of using a card. But, I have a feeling our customers would be pretty upset, haha. It makes a lot of sense on the businesses side though, especially on invoices when the total is so high and it's often (in our case) being paid by a company, not an individual. Having people write checks in line at the restaurant would be totally unfeasible, but for large invoices that are paid in advance... it's definitely an interesting thought, to encourage them to pay a different way. Now you have me thinking...

Hey @mksavage
So I don't really think I can recall any customer being upset with that, at least not while they are paying for it . I'm not a huge company, so even though those fees may not seem like much, but we all know that they add up at the end of the year. Those fees alone are the difference between getting more product, inventory, paying bills, employees etc.
Since I deal with strictly invoices for my services, adding that additionally works for me. This is the exact wordage I use on my invoices by default
"Thank you for your business. You will be able to pick up your vehicle the day following this invoice between 9 am and 3 pm.
Save 3% by paying this invoice with cash or check made out to Scorpion Coating Plus when you pick up your vehicle."
On my retail side with any aftermarket parts, I have the pricing adjusted with an additional 3% on top of the pricing .
Any fees that I pay to another local business while using a card, doesn't bother me at all, because I know how it is. Plus it's just an extra bonus that I'll get back depending on the card I'm using. (cash back %, miles etc)
Actually there was this one time, I was paying for a speeding ticket at the courts. Since I was using my card, they told me there would be a a 3% charge. I said yeah sure thats no big deal. So what they did was ran my card for the fine, lets say it was 100. Then they ran my card again for the fee. $3. I tried to explain to them that doing it that way didn't make any sense , since they were actually charged again for running my card. I haven't gotten any more speeding tickets in that town to see if they fixed that yet haha.

I like that you provide the option to "save 3%". So smart.

Good to know, thanks for the update! This may be a silly question, but I assume that a payment made by CashApp is received by us the same way as a credit card payment, correct? Specifically -- we don't need to have CashApp set up to receive the payment?

That is correct. Everything will flow through your Square Account

@mksavage building on what @Minion said, Cash App payments will run just like credit card payments into your linked square account, but be warned that the CashApp payments will show separately in your transactions and reports. When you reconcile your daily reports, be aware you'll need to combine Cash App and credit card payments.

I don't use invoices much but today I created one for a customer and was able to activate it for them to use. Love having different payment options available.

Are we not able to just click Cashapp one time and it is always available on invoices? Or do we need to remember to click Cashapp every time we create an invoice?

You can enable the Cashapp options on your invoices by editing your default template.
- from the Dashboard head to Invoice>Settings>Invoices.
- Choose your default template you want to use >Edit
- Scroll down, enable Cash App Pay
- Save template and profit.
