Services (Times & Prices) Based on Quantities Rather than Time
As a trade service provider I, like many others, base my service prices off of measurements (linear feet) rather than time. It would be immensely beneficial to add this functionality into the square services feature.
My company primarily cleans eavestroughs and our price is fixed at $0.69/ft. We know that we are able to clean 150ft per hour. Ideally, when creating and invoice or appointment I would simply enter the linear feet of the eavestroughs that I needed to clean and the price and time would automatically populate.
For example:
If I am creating an appointment for cleaning 225ft of eavestroughs I would simply add the "Gutter Cleaning" service and enter 225 under its quantity. With this I would automatically be presented with an appointment time of 1.5 hours and a total price of $155.25.
This functionality would help roofers, gutter installers, surface cleaners, floor installers, window cleaners and most other trade service providers.
I hope you take this recommendation into consideration.
Thank you,
Nicholas Waldram

Thanks for reaching out about this! I can understand how a feature like this would be beneficial. You may want to consider using our unit measurements and invoices to help manage your business better in tandem with the Appointments subscription. From there, you can charge per the foot, but schedule per hour. I hope that makes sense!

Hi there Ashley, yes this makes sense and is what I am doing now but this unfortunately takes twice the time it otherwise would and everything becomes very disconnected.
I hope Square will consider allowing sellers to be able to assign unit measurements to services (in appointments, invoices or estimates). Linking these unit measurements to time measurements and price would speed things up significantly! Being able to create a service and set cost per unit and time per unit would allow sellers to simply add a service (to an appointment, invoice or estimate), enter a unit measurement, and instantly receive a service time and service price.
I know many trades people that would switch from Quickbooks to Square if this feature was available!

Additionally the ability to link invoices to appointments would be immensely beneficial! There should be a menu option to "schedule an appointment" when you select an invoice. So when you create an appointment from an invoice the data (services and costs) from that invoice would be automatically copied to an appointment (which you could further edit) eliminating the need to add additional functionality!
This feature in conjunction with the ability to set unit measurements in services would streamline Square for most trades professionals.
I've created a new thread for this (https://www.sellercommunity.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Linking-Invoices-to-Appointments/td-p/236638) it seams several other sellers have commented on this feature in other threads.
See the following threads that also comment on the features I've requested:
