Prepaid deposits for events or large purchases

As an event venue, we often take deposits to hold a date for clients. We then apply that deposit to the final invoice amount, pre-tax. This often takes place online using square invoices.

There is no way for us to currently do this unless we load each client's deposit onto a gift card and then use that gift card at the end of the event to reduce the amount on the final invoice. Is there a way that we can apply a previous payment to the final amount pre tax?

Great question! I can see how this is useful for your business. While there is no way to add a previous payment to an invoice once the invoice has been sent out or paid, you can create a new Invoice and choose to remove taxes to that specific items/amount (I'm sure you are aware of that). At this time, your request is a feature that we don't offer.

Are we able to add negative value amounts to our invoice? because that would help.

You should be able to add a custom item if you enter $-1.00, the price field should change $0.00 and allow you to leave the item description.
