Green light on Reader not illuminating when attempting to take payment (occasionally)

Got a Reader v2 connected to an iPad via Bluetooth and all works well most of the time.

 

Occasionally - usually after no activity for a few hours - the green light on the reader doesn't illuminate when attempting to take payment (so fails to read the card.)

 

Turning bluetooth off/on or rebooting the iPad cures the issue - so my hunch is a bug in the Square app. I'm running 7.8

 

Anyone else seen this and know of a fix?

 

Explaining to everyone who uses the 'till' how to restart bluetooth is not ideal!
