[Note: The title of this post has been edited by a moderator.]

I have created a home page and would like to display the most recent blog posts on it.  How can I do that?

Thanks,

For sites built using the classic Weebly drag-and-drop website editor, the easiest way to do that is to use an rss feed app from the App Center. Those will pull posts using the RSS feed of your blog and then provide options with how you want them shown.

To get the feed URL visit your blog on your published website, right-click the RSS icon in the sidebar, then copy the URL.

If you have a site built using the Square Online editor, you can display posts on a different page of your site using the RSS feed section.

I am not seeing an RSS Feed Reader element in my editor page. Only a Feed Reader that connects to news pages and cannot be changed. Why is this and how can I get this element?

Are you looking at your blog, and does it have a sidebar? You'll want to get the URL from the RSS icon in the sidebar of your blog on your live site (not in the editor).

I have the same problem!

I need icons for the home page - which are linked directly to the blog articles. Your idea with the RSS-fees is not enough..

Thanks.

There are some third party RSS solutions in our App Center which might work better for you:

Hey there Mopskonrad and anyone else that wants to use photos/images to link to their blog posts,
I was having the same trouble until I decided to do this:

What I did was create the photos/images I wanted and dragged the image widget onto my homepage in the layout I wanted, uploaded my photos/images and then I followed the instructions on this page on how to make an image link to your blog post: https://hc.weebly.com/hc/en-us/articles/201018148-Create-Links

Hope this helps!

So essentially I will need to manually edit the main page images, every time I post a new blog entry? Seems a bit excessive for heavy blog sites like mine.

I would be wasting an extra hour or so a day doing this.

Does anyone have any other solutions, like a third party embedding site that will take the feed and embed the articles?

We have some apps in our App Center which could possibly work better for what you need:

Is everyone thinking the same as me? This is just guesswork.

It looks like Weebly has been completely left behind the likes of Squarespace here. This should really be a basic function. It's really no different from embedding the code for your latest tweets in a Twitter feed – in fact it should be easier because it's within the same website.

The apps appear to be useless, although it would help if Adam told us which one to try. By the way, there won't be an RSS feed in the sidebar unless you drag one across there to start with.

Since I haven't personaly used any of those apps, I didn't want to to recommend one without firsthand knowledge of all of the controls.

As an example, this one works with blog RSS feeds although I'm not sure what information it pulls from a blog post:

it is unacceptable to have to have a third party app with extra charge (if you want to get rid of their branding) when I've already paid Weebly. How can you not just make this part of the system? it must be relatively simple!

Please respond to everyone's concern about this not being core functionality.  I think we'd all like a real explanation for Weebly's insistence that users enter into financial agreements with 3rd parties for things that are so fundamental to basic site creation.

I just gave up my Weebly site because of the lack of this function. It is very crucial and I am shocked they have not evolved to it yet.

Hi Adam,

How come I don't have an RSS Feed icon in my editor to drag into my sidebar?  I have a link to an RSS Feed that automatically appears on every new page I create and is useless unless someone right-clicks to get an address:

Also, each page is a different feed address.  So even if I add an RSS app to my home page, how would that work?  I can't add multiple addresses.  Shouldn't I just be able to drag the RSS Feed icon to my home page, enter my home page address and voila, all my pages appear in the feed?  I'm so confused.

etc., etc., etc.

Thanks!

Daneen
