Possible Filter Bug

Hi

I've been having a play around with my website, mainly just adding subcategories due to my inventory getting a lot larger and it's taken me about 2 and a half days so far.

 

I had previously set up size filters a long time ago and they were working fine in each category, but now they are only showing in certain places and not in others.

 

For example, as seen with the attached screenshots:

it's not showing under ladies>dresses

it is showing under ladies>tops>sweatshirts & hoodies>sweatshirts

 

I would also like to get it to show on all categories.

For example, I want it to show under ladies & tops & sweatshirts & hoodies (and maybe even on my main page as well)

At the time of writing, I'm just hoping that my site is taking time to catch up with the changes, but I'm not convinced that is the case in this instance.

While I am on the subject of filters, I do wish this was more customisable so that certain things can be hidden. I don't want or need 'How to get it' and 'Availability' to show, for example

Hi again @Lou8 

I thought that I would mention here that I have also noticed my badges on newer items have stopped showing.

 

I've done the usual troubleshooting such as turning the badges off and on and taking my store offline and back on but it's not made a difference.

 

I don't know when this started to happen, but the badges are still on my older items.Screenshot 2024-08-18 10.24.20.png

 

All of my ยฃ14 items are 2 for ยฃ25.

Hi @cymru78

 

Are you talking about the badges from the automatic discount "Mix and Match / 2 for 25ยฃ" ?

If that's the case, your new items wouldn't be automatically added to the discount. You would have to manually add them :

  1. In your Dashboard, go to Items
  2. Click on Discounts, then click on the discount Mix and Match / 2 for 25ยฃ
  3. Click on Add Individual Items and select the desired items
  4. Save

Firstly, I have finally had a reply to my initial problems with the filters, but nothing has been solved.

 

The person tried to explain to me why certain filters aren't showing up, but their answer doesn't make sense because I'm still not getting filters showing where they should be.

 

They said that filters will only show in base categories. Fair enough.

 

But, for example: There should surely be a size filter showing under ladies>dress because dresses is a base category and there should be a filter under band shirts>mens band shirts because that is a base category

 

I replied to the email a few hours ago, but haven't heard back yet.

 

Regarding the badges.

 

When I add a product to my website, I immediately add that product to the relevant discount.

I've attached a screen screenshot that shows the most recent products that have been added to the 2 for ยฃ25 discount as well as an example for the Caterpillar Sweatshirt that I chose randomly.

 

The badges show on each individual item page, but not on the main pages

 

These issues/bugs are really frustrating now because they keep happening

I'm sorry but I have to keep posting here because after 6 hours, I still haven't had any follow ups on email.

I really don't know why this thread has also been marked as solved when it's definitely not solved.

 

Regarding the filters: I think that I have partly found out what the issue is. I will copy and paste some of the info here from the email that I have just sent.

 

Please can this be escalated, along with the issue with my badges not showing?

 

"I have been playing around with this on and off all day because it's driving me crazy.

 

I have added another category which is 'Skirt Test' and I have added this under 'Ladies Bottoms' ( flauntitvintage.co.uk/shop/shop/ladies-bottoms/41 )


This category only shows up under the filters on the ladies bottoms page on purpose.

 

The new 'Skirt Test' shows the size filter yet the main Skirt category doesn't. Please visit > flauntitvintage.co.uk/shop/skirt-test/ELVTOCIVV74NMKHUQTATKXW3 and then visit flauntitvintage.co.uk/shop/skirts/12

 

What I seem to have noticed is that my original categories that ended with a number (ie: skirts/12) do NOT show the filters like they used to.
But categories that now seem to end with a mixture of letters and numbers for some reason DO show the filters.

 

This REALLY isn't something that the end user (me) should be figuring out. The last time that I figured out a bug in the system I was given free processing fees"

Our team aim to respond to emails between 24 to 48h. However, it can sometimes take more time depending on the complexity of the query.

Hi @cymru78, just updating you on the topics above.

 

Filters

The engineering team confirmed that the filtering is displayed as expected, and that this isn't a bug.

 

The filter section is populating the option sets that have been applied to the available items in the sub-category. 

For example the filter "ladies size" will only display when viewing a category/sub-category with eligible items with options within in it. 

 

Unfortunately there is no way to manually edit filters on Square Online at this time. This would be a feature request. 


Discount Banners

Our team went ahead and resynced your item catalog, as well as reindexed your products, categories, and discounts. Note that it can take some time to complete. Let me know if the edits are still not populating in a few hours, and I'll relay the information.

I do understand what you are saying, but the filter issue still isn't making any sense and I can't let this problem lie.

And if I am doing something wrong for the size filter to display, then could I be informed about what changes to make so that they come back?

Ladies Sizes doesn't show in the filter and I know that they definitely did use to show on this page.

 

Another example is bandshirts>mens band shirts here https://www.flauntitvintage.co.uk/shop/mens-band-shirts/28

And just one more sportswear>football here https://www.flauntitvintage.co.uk/shop/football/35

If you were to go through every single category on my website you will notice that:

*All categories with just a number at the end does not show a size filter (they used to)

*All categories with a mix of letters and numbers do show a size filter. Any category ending in this way are new categories that I have recently made.

 

Going back to the 'mens>bottoms' section which going back to the above, is where 'trousers' can be found.

In that mens>bottoms section, take a look at mens>bottoms>jeans or mens>bottoms>shorts. They are both in the same section but neither of them show filters.

 

Guess what? Both of those urls end only with a number

New categories now seem to create urls with numbers and letters when previously it was just numbers. Could this be a part of the problem? Has it started to happen when categories were merged in the dashboard from the 'online' section?

 

I really do hope that this is a good enough explanation to what I am trying to say.

If I am wrong, then fair enough, but I just can't see how this is a coincidence and it still doesn't explain why my size filters are showing in certain places and not others (such as showing under mens>bottoms>trousers but not showing under mens>bottoms>jeans)

 

I will post here again at some stage tomorrow regarding the badges so that it has overnight to update.

Coming up to 10am and the 2 for ยฃ25 badges still aren't showing for my most recent products on the main pages.

I have unpublished/republished the store and turned the badge setting off and on again.

 

I'm sure that I am cursed in some way and I have to be honest and say that, despite initially being a fan of SquareUp, I am starting to look around at other potential providers.

Unfortunately, my badges are still not working for all the latest ยฃ14 products.

 

And obviously neither are the filters. I may have found a solution for that problem but it's not ideal because it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

I have had an auto-email stating that a ticket has been opened for me following someone attempting to get my badges working again.

 

There was no mention of the filter problem on the email but if required, I will bring it up when someone from the team gets in touch with me.

 

I'm sure that I have found a workaround for it but I'm going to wait until I've spoken to someone.
