Cannot add buttons for new items
I'm having a re-occuring issue with the Square Register over the past few months where I'm unable to add buttons to my screen for new items. I will do the long press, then get the + sign in the empty squares, I'll hit that, then find the new item in my library. Once the new item is added to my screen it'll stay there for about 10 seconds and then *poof* disappear right off the screen.
It's insanely frustrating. Sometimes the new items will stay and other time they won't. After a few days I'm sometimes able to permanently add the button, but sometimes not, the behavior is bizarre and unpredictable.

I haven't experienced this personally, but I can offer some suggestions to possibly narrow down the issue.
What device are you using?
-Android
-iPhone
-iPad
-Square Register
Which app are you using?
-Square POS
-Square retail
-Square restaurants
-etc
Make sure your device is completely updated and that you're using the latest version of Square.
On iPads and iPhones, make sure you close the app fully and restart the device.
We all have a tendency to keep devices on for weeks at a time. It is good to restart them periodically.
Do you log into the device with your square account or are you set up under devices from the dashboard?
I log into the app with my account, I haven't used the devices option. So I can't help you there.
You might try to log out of the device and back in.

We're using the Square Register with the standard POS installed. We did not update to the new POS as it was sluggish and crashy when we tested it. We're fully up to date and I've done several restarts. I've logged out and logged in as well.

Just to clarify, is it the Square Register or a square stand with an iPad?
What version of operating system is on the tablet? What model is the tablet?
I am mostly using iPad 4th gen, but am having to upgrade them.
They can't get newer versions of square and I'm missing some new features that would really benefit me right now.
Unfortunately, I have 6 iPads that need updating. It would be a huge expense to update them all at once.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? It could have been a bad download.
Honestly, I would try the new version of the app again.
Sometimes there are a few bugs when it's first released that could be fixed by now.

It's also the latest version of Register operating system.
