Where is a 4.2% + 30¢ fee listed? And what is it for?
Because that is what I am being charged. For online purchases made from my shop, which is also thru Square. This one: My Square.site shop
When I saw this fee (screenshot below) I was confused. So I clicked on "Learn more about fees".
There I find a long list of transactions that fall under one of the following fees:
None of those are 4.2% - including Square eCommerce API - which is 2.9% + 30¢
That was the category that I assumed I fell under
Scrolling further down the page, I found the below chart for Square Invoice fees.
Honestly, I'm not even sure I understand what this is. Not that it matters at the moment, because nothing there is listed at 4.2% anyway, so it still doesn't answer my question.
So far, every fee I've seen listed is lower that what I am being charged.
Until I scroll down a bit further. To Afterpay. Which is 6%. Oh my, that was quite the jump, wasn't it? I'm glad I know that now, but it still isn't 4.2%. The answer I seek still eludes me.
Can anyone tell me where the fee I'm being charged would be listed? At the moment, it's just a few dollars difference, but going forward, I would just like to know what I will be charged in fees. So I can price my goods accordingly. I just have no idea at the moment. What category does 4.2% fall under? Why is that what I am being charged? Will my next order be the same? Or lower? Or higher? If I carry the 2 ... then ...
Nope. Can't figure it out on my own.
Please, can someone make it make sense?
Thank you,
Annette

HI @LuvPure
FIrst, off I don't mean to laugh, but your "math ain't mathin' Image cracked me right up first thing in the morning.
On to your issue, I do not see anywhere like you had mentioned a fee higher than 3.9% unless it is afterpay. Have you checked in on any of your other transactions to see what those fees were running at or was this your first sale?
You may need to call in customer support Monday morning and have them take a look into your account to see what and why you are being charged that type of %.

I am so glad! I love making people laugh. Especially when I'm annoyed, actually. It's my attempt at combatting the negativity. Even if just a little bit.
I went back and checked, and apparently I'm always being charged 4.2% + 30 cents. I didn't notice before, as the transactions were fairly small. Since I have some high end products on my site, I figured that I should check on this. I could call customer support, but I thought I'd start here. I can't be the only person this is happening with (unless I'm just really special), so maybe it will help other people by asking it here first.

Well, at least I'm interesting. So much better than boring, right?
I'm going to take it as a good sign that you are not only complimenting me,
but that you have the same name as my favorite bar.
I look forward to hearing the answer.
ThanksCheers

Hello @LuvPure thanks for your post. I'm sorry you're having this issue, I'm not exactly sure what may be the root of the percentage here. The only thing I can think of is...did you swipe or tap a card for payment, or did you manually type in the CC number? With manual input of a CC number there usually is a higher fee for manually entered transactions, due to a greater risk involved with these payments, as neither the payment card nor the cardholder needs to be present for the payment to occur.
I wish I had a more definitive answer for you on this, maybe another Square Community member will have more experience with various fees on their accounts.

I had nothing to do with the transaction personally. I had a listing on my website. A customer went to the page - checked out online - apparently with a Mastercard - I was notified of the order. The end.
It's not so much that I am being charged a fee different from what I thought I would be charged. It's more that I can't find that specific fee listed anywhere. I assumed it would be. An explanation of why I'm pay what I'm paying. Like I said, I just want it to make sense. Hopefully, by asking here, someone can give me that answer, and in the process help other people having the same issue. It's can't just be me. Right?

P.S. I'm not sure why the "Invoice fees" picture isn't showing from my original question, but here it is again. Just for clarity. I still don't understand exactly what this is for. Instead of other fees? Or in addition to? Anyone even know what this is?
