Changing Inventory information

If I export my library, make changes in the categories column (for instance, changing which category an item is in), then import it back in, will that work?

Now that I've created an online store, I'm finding that the way I set up my inventory is NOT a good system and I need to change it completely! But I don't want to affect my COGS reports,  and I don't want to lose or mess up my stock counts, etc.

@SmartyPantsJane When you make changes to your item CSV export, those changes will reflect your item library after you re-import them! When you go to import the updated CSV file, you'll want to select the option to Replace Item Library.
