We are a restaurant with managers, shift leaders, cashiers and "regular" employees. We want to use timecards but do not want "regular" employees to have access to the POS/register. When creating a role, if I do not enable "Access Shared Point of Sale", will employees in this role be able to clock-in and out?
You must enable Access Shared Point of Sale in order for them to clock in and out. I have the same issue where I have employees that will never ring the register. I just unchecked all the options so if they do get in they really can't do anything but ring a sale. I also set up a separate iPad for clocking in and out so the iPad isn't connected to a swiper, drawer, etc. We haven't had any issues.
If this doesn't work for you may I suggest Homebase. It is an add-on app that works with Square.
How do I set up an employee permissions (like a cook) who only needs to clock in/out but should have NO access to POS activities?
