Can I use the Square Stand app to track how attendees paid for their ticket?

Here are the current ways my attendees can pay for tickets:

  • Paying cash at the door
  • Via a Groupon ticket
  • Paying with credit card at the door (through Square payment)
  • Via a pre-purchased online ticket (not currently managed by Square)
  • Complimentary access (free at the door due to attendee being a minor, military personnel, etc.)

I need to track each and every attendee and their ticket purchase type (one of the above). Can I do this with the Square Stand app?

Am I correct that for all tickets, other than Square ticket sales, I would create different inventory items (e.g., Groupon ticket, Complimentary ticket, Online ticket) and then selecting that item as a cash sale and giving the customer a 100% discount?

Hey @thatkyle - this is a fantastic workaround! As we don't currently have a way to enter in "custom tenders", this is the most solid way I can think of to track where payments are coming from for an event like this.

After your event, you'll be able to use the Item Sales report from your online Square Dashboard to look at specific item sales over a period of time. As long as you do create items for each of the different ticket types, this report will allow you to see how many tickets were purchased from each varied source.
