Sorting out Aetna Revenue

I have a problem that maybe Square can help me with. I use the service to charge all virtual cards. Aetna (in their infinite wisdom) decided to NOT send 1099 forms. They are telling me that the data is on 1099K. WHERE?

Is there any way to break out from the 1099K form (sent by Square), how much money came from Aetna?

Your 1099-K from Square shows the total amount of card transactions processed through your account during the tax year. It’s purely based on payment volume. That’s because Square only sees card details and transaction metadata, not the origin of the funds or the business name tied to a virtual card.

So, even though Aetna says “your 1099 data is on your 1099-K,” what they mean is, those payments were made via virtual credit card processed through Square, so they’re included in your Square gross volume, but not broken down separately.

However, you can find those transactions manually or through an export following these steps:

Go to your Square Dashboard → Transactions.
Use the Search bar to type keywords like “Aetna,” “virtual,” or any part of the payer name that appears on the card statement.
If Aetna’s payments use a consistent card prefix or descriptor, note it.
Export your Transactions CSV report for the full year.
