Square Payroll & Homebase: Restaurant Tips Splitting

Hi Everyone,

We use Homebase for the team to clock in and out of, and Square for payroll. Tips are split between front-of-the house and back-of-the house by 70%, 30% per day.

We wrote our own scripts to automatically calculate tips splitting but due to server migrations it's been difficult to upkeep.

Are there any automatic tip splitting features in Square Payroll or Homebase that would work for our team's needs? I only saw options for tip directly or pool tips per transaction. Is there any way to split by %?

Hi @AnaheimDragon. At this point, there is no tip splitting mechanism in Square. Your only options are what you are currently using OR using another third party app like TipHaus, which does come with a cost. Trust me when I tell you that tip splitting has been requested, and that the request has lots of comments on it. But so far there has been no announcement and no beta test announced.

We use the same basic set up, except we use the "pool tips" evenly with employees that are on shift.

I don't believe there is an option based on percentage. I can see the need for this feature and maybe its something Square could

implement.

Thank you so much for your reply! I wonder why it's so difficult for Square to create a tips splitting based on percentages. They have all the resources to make it happen.

Sometimes many changes have to be made that we don't see to get the result. Usually if a feature request is being worked on we will see a Beta, and as @TheRealChipA said no Beta has been announced. I feel like this is a popular request and hopefully you will see it soon.
