Contractor access to Download 1099-NEC tax form

I use Square Payroll to pay my team of independent contractors. Square files a form 1099-NEC for me each year and allows me to pay my contractors via ACH for $6 per month per contractor paid.

Apparently, the only way for my contractors to access the electronic version of their 1099 is by installing the Square Team App on their phone.

Am I missing something? Is there a way for my contractors to download their 1099 from the Square website? Is there a help resource on this topic I can point them to? I was unable to find anything on this topic.

Hi there @jhaus1005. You can view/download/print contractor 1099s by going to your web dashboard > Staff & Payroll > Payroll > Tax Forms. At the top are tabs. Click the 1099s tab and all of those will be there.

Also, at the end of each tax year, Square sends you notices about opting in to having them print and mail these forms as well as W2s to your team. That has a cost per form mailed to cover the mailing costs. Otherwise, every year after the forms are finalized you’ll need to print and distribute them yourself to team members who don’t have the Team App.

But from a contractor account, how is the 1099 accessed on the website/dashboard?
