Hey there Square Up.

Is it possible to start a template/ category for Pet Services?

I have been using Square since 2018, and had to sign up under "Beauty."

There were more similarities to Salons than to Restaurants or Retail, because groomers, trainers, walkers and sitters offer a service, but isn't it time we had our own class and community that addressed our needs and did not require us to ferret out work arounds? I keep getting solicitations from Square Up to try new add-ons. Frankly I don't feel seen let alone heard as an industry professional. Until products fit my business, I do not find it prudent to incur the additional expense.

It sounds like you are interested in updating your Merchant Category Code. I took a look through the MCC's that we offer, but the closest thing I could find was "Pet sales, food, and supplies", which may not be the best fit for your business. Unfortunately, we didn't have one specifically for grooming 😞

Please do let me know if you'd prefer to update to "Pet sales, food, and supplies".

That’s such a valid point—you’ve highlighted a real gap for professionals in pet services. It would make a huge difference to have tools and templates tailored specifically to your industry. Hopefully, Square considers expanding their offerings to better serve your niche soon!
