Download Receipts for Audit

I need to download all my Square receipts to give to an external auditor. How do I do that?

You can save individual Square receipts, but I don’t think Square offers a built-in way to download receipts in bulk.

Since you mentioned an external auditor, I think they might need your transaction records rather than copies of every receipt. Square lets you download those into a spreadsheet.

Go to Transactions in your Square Dashboard, select the date range, and click Export.

I’d double-check with your auditor first, but I think the transaction spreadsheet will probably give them what they need.

Joy, you can get the receipts themselves too; it takes a couple of steps rather than one button:

1. Export the Transactions CSV for the audit period, as Manny described. One of its columns is Payment ID.

2. Each Square receipt has its own web page: squareup.com/receipt/preview/ followed by that sale's Payment ID. Open it, press Ctrl+P, then choose Save as PDF.

For a few dozen sales, doing that by hand works well. With hundreds, the same steps can run in one go and produce a folder of PDFs named by date and amount, plus a list tying each file to its row in the export, which makes the auditor's cross-checking quick.

There are less than 50 transactions they pulled so I think I can do it that way; I did a test and was able to successfully generate a receipt. We’re trying to talk them out of this level of detail and just use the transaction export, but glad to know it exists if we need it!

Glad the test worked, Joy! One tip that makes the auditor's cross-checking quick: save each PDF with the sale's date and amount as its name (for example 2026-03-14 45.00), so every file matches its row in the export at a glance.
