I have expressed my frustrations with Square in the past over changing the data and calculations in reports without giving any warning or notification. From a financial auditing standpoint being able to have reports and data changed is an absolute nightmare. How can we know what is in the data or that it is reliable if the data shown and calculations used for the same reports are always changing.

This time the team sales report has changed what tips are shown and it's extremely frustrating. Our business has always pooled tips and split them based on if you were clocked in when the tab was closed you got a share of the tip. We ran our own spreadsheets for years to split tips and were thrilled when we noticed in early 2026 that square would now split tips for you in exactly this way. We ran our spreadsheets next to square's reports for 2 months and their calculations always matched our within rounding differences (pennies). So we were happy enough that it was being done correctly and started pulling the tip amounts from the Team Sales reports instead of doing them manually ourselves.

Everything has been great with this method until today. Starting today that report now shows the tips based on who opened the tab, which means nothing to us. Tech support said they can see the correct numbers in the closing report, but that is only available by printing it off. It is not available in the dashboard or any reports that we can download. We then need to log those numbers daily in excel and sum them up ourselves for reporting tips to our payroll company. According to the square rep there is no longer a report that will show the pooled tip split. Which to me is absolutely unacceptable for multiple reasons. The tech was friendly and understood my frustrations, and said she would escalate the concerns. But I've been through enough with square to not expect to get it back to how it was for probably 3 or 4 years best case scenario.

I am asking not only for the reports to get fixed but for Square to publish their policies for notification of calculation and data source changes in reports. If no policies like this exist then the higher ups have to put them in place otherwise I have no confidence in their data.
