Item with variable amount, but without a quantity

I'm using Square Terminal. I have no need nor desire to track inventory. How can items be set up that have variable price, but has no quantity (or a hidden quantity of 1)? Basically, I want to have an generic items, such as "Drinks" or "Snacks", that can be selected from the Library on the Terminal and the user enter in a variable dollar amount and not be able to enter a quantity. This way I can keep track of sales from each item without concern for quantities.

Welcome to the Community, @phyc278 -

Whenever you create the item, you will want to leave the price box blank and then save. That way you can add the item price you wish at checkout.

I understand leaving the price blank when creating the item, however I'm still required to enter a quantity when selling the item. I don't need/want to enter a quantity, just the price. How can the quantity be removed?

@phyc278 Stepping in. Sorry for the misunderstanding. There isn't a way to remove quantity. I suggest just using the custom amount option at checkout.

How do I track what Item was sold using a custom amount? Or are you saying the product just can't do this?

You do not have to enter a qty on an item that has a variable price. it will default to 1. In Square POS on my iPhone, I just deleted a price on one of my items, and then when I click it comes straight to the enter amount screen and then adds it to the cart when clicking add.

if the item has a variable price and regular prices it will bring up a screen that will allow you to choose the price and then add. It defaults to 1 so you do not need to touch the qty.

It doesn't eliminate qty but it also doesn't require using it at more than the default.
